An experiment with the Montreal Jazz Festival. Will you get hooked?
Like every year I say I'll go to all the good shows. Like every year I end up going to only one. But no, not this time. In a week the Montreal Jazz Festival starts and I intend to go as much as it is humanly possible.
Ok, now that we have a mission statement, how exactly do we execute it. The Montreal jazz fest is huge, it is probably the biggest jazz festival this side of the ocean. So, this can't be a one man show. I'll need all the help I can get, and that where you come in the picture.
Maybe you’re a jazz fan, maybe you're a music fan, or maybe you're just a fan of drinking beer outside, in a nice park, while listening to some music that makes no sense at all.
Regardless of who you really are, if you go to the Jazz festival and want to write about it (praise the fest, bitch on the fest, describe the fest) this is the place: go ahead, go to the festival, write a piece and send it to us, and if it doesn't suck too bad, we'll publish it.
The goal is to build a collective and organic agenda of the Montreal Jazz Festival. "Why does Montreal-Clubs.com waste it's time with sheize like this?" you ask. Because we're not all about getting drunk in clubs OK, that's like so 2001.
No really, this is just an experiment:
- I want to see how many shows I can go to and if I can share some of that with everyone
- I want to see if I can get someone, anyone involved. Is there anyone out there interested in this
Here we go, it's started. It will probably be a failure, but it doesn't matter, it's all about the Montreal Jazz Festival, hopefully I'll get to realize point 1.
Oh yeah, here is what I'll try to put up on these pages
- Quick posts, blog style, about shows or bands
- Longer, more intelligent articles on the Jazz festival as a whole
- Pictures, because I am a photographer too, in case you didn't know
Peace out, and till the jazz fest.
Of yeah, another thing, me and the Jazz Fest... who is me? Here is my pic bellow, I am a full-time journalist under-cover, and I have broken such big stories as the Enron fraud and others..., really no joking. So bookmark this page and hit us up as often as you CAN, especially before that boring meeting at work.
