Back from the Dead
What do you do after your legions of fans hate you because of your lawsuit against Napster, your last 2 album sales resemble the Expos ticket sales, your front-man checks in the detox centre – forever putting an end to the Alcoholica tradition - and your bassist leaves for a Montreal-based (well, Jonquière-based to be exact) heavy metal group? Well if you’re the legendary monsters of metal - Metallica, you head straight back to the studio, record the heaviest album you’ve ever recorded (and yes that does include a comparison with Kill ‘Em All), hire a new bassist with an explosive, nuclear bomb-like personality and get elected an MTV Icon. In other words, you get up and fight…and knock all the critics and skeptics back to where they came from.
Metallica’s new album – St. Anger – debuted at number one in many countries – and yes, that includes Canada. Right from the double-kick drum intro to Frantic (the CD’s first song), St. Anger grasps you by the balls and never lets go. There are no ballads and no solos (wait…is it Jason that quit or Kirk?)…simply hardcore riffs and all-out anger – hence the name. All in all, St. Anger will push the graying Quebec fans to change their tune from: “Ey! Joue donc Master esti!” to “Ey! Joue donc Sweet Amber esti!”
But I’ll let you be the judge...Get St. Anger NOW!
Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Mudvayne and Deftones roll into town, as part of the Summer Sanitarium tour on July 20th at Parc Jean Drapeau. Put on your dirty sneakers and get ready for 9 hours of hardcore heavy metal fuelled by alcohol and social disenchantment. You can still win tickets at various bars throughout town. Check out MolsonDry.com for more details (French only).
