You know that feeling, when you were a teenager and you heard that record for the first time. You remember how you reacted and how you changed? You remember how you got into the sound, how you looped the record over and over again?

I remember, but I canít live only on memories.

I had heard the name Plants and Animals, and it stuck because, well, itís weird and itís easy to remember. Then two days ago I finally got off my ass and got their last record, Parc Avenue.

And I discovered a New Kind of Love.

Itís the sixth song of the album; Iíve been looping it and itís been putting a smile in my face over and over again.

The song starts slow, and it builds up, builds up, until it collapses back into a long pleasantly dying conclusion with a distorted waling guitar and, of all things, a flute (I believe). A conclusion that makes me feel the same uneasy calm I discovered the first time I listened to some of Pink Floyd tracks; a feeling that is good to re-discover.

I am not a music critic, for a serious and boring article read Pitchforkís review of Parc Avenue.

I am just trying to share a sentiment, but that is something best discovered by you. So do yourself a favour, forget about useless Christmas shopping and get Parc Avenue; buy it directly from the band on their BuyBuyBuy Plants and Animals store and support them.

Or just check out Plants and Animals website, it has an amazing intro, a nice low-tech animated-gif, like we used to do it in the good old days before Flash when we actually needed to be creative. And check out their labelís website, Secret City Records. Montrealís art scene canít exist without your interest.

Get out there and listen to new sounds.

React to Erjy's mad rambling on the message board.
