Montreal is no Toronto. Sure both cities’ hockey teams play like a bunch of kids at an ice ring in the park, and sure Montreal doesn’t have an MBA team, nor does it ever host NFL games. But we have the Alouettes, the CFL’s bad-ass team.
Bad-ass, but with some stress-related problems it seems. Because in the last 8 years the Als have made it to the Grey Cup finals a grand total of 5 times. And they’ve won only once. That’s a bad case of choking (in front of the cup obviously).
This Sunday (29th November) will be different though. The Als will charge the Saskatchewan Roughriders, starting at 6:30 PM Montreal time. At that point expect all TV equipped bars and pubs to be overtaken by a wave of drunken football fans, probably one of the best crowds to spend your Sunday night with.
Obviously, the wish here is that the Alouettes bring back that cup to Montreal. That will only do us good, stroke our sports-self-esteem a bit, considering how battered it is with performance given by the Canadiens so far.
And a Grey Cup win will be obviously followed by the traditional victory parade, always a fun event to have right before the Christmas season. You know, wrap up the year on a good feeling.
It will maybe even inspire the Canadiens.
Why not, miracles do happen around Christmas ...
Comments It's your turn now. So speak-up.
WOW, that was close, but we made it. The Grey Cup is back home.
