| A Crescent bar with a Saint Laurent type feel. The Newtown started a small controversy among Montreal's Francophone community when it first opened up - being owned by the Canadian F1 driver, Jacques Villeneuve, Newtown is the literal translation of his last name and the French citizens argued Jacques was denying his roots. But this little anecdote aside, the Newtown is a big venue that offers a bit of everything - club, bar, lounge, and restaurant. The decor is nice, not too flaunting or vulgar as some other places, but rather classy with an artful contemporary touch. Their great sound system creates the soundtrack to a high-priced Hollywood movie that captures and yet repulses you at the same time. Just like many establishments on Crescent and Saint Laurent, the Newtown has a slight aura of decadence that carries a daunting allure. It is a place that either enchants or nauseates you. If you want to be embedded Grand Prix Racing glitz and glamour, albeit just for one night, than this is a choice you should make. |

I didn't like the lounge, it's all fake people pretending to be someone there not. The night club in the basement is excellent: great music, great people, great entertainement(eugene the violin player). I have to go on a Saturday night not friday.

On saturdays you can find a great party in the basement. Last night they had a guy who played the electronic violin along music...it was hypnotic (to say the least)...also the crowd is a little older and the place is not too crowded.

This place is hot, exciting and classy. The music is always good and if you don't like to dance there is plenty of eye candy. I suggest you and your friends go in, buy a bottle, sit down and chill for a bit then get up and go bust out your favorite moves on the dance floor.
