| The Mile End opened roughly a year ago and has slowly, but surely become one of the hippest places in town. Situated in the plateau (on Saint Laurent between Fairmount and Saint Viateur), it has been know to trendy Plateau/Outremont residents since its beginnings. Its clientele has been growing ever since. Covering 3 floors, the Mile End’s decor is simply amazing and is a great location to sit back with a couple friends or a date. It's also a great place to meet full of beautiful people, but a note to all you young-ones out there, the crowd is an older one (25-40). A dance floor sometimes forms during the night, but this is definitely not a club. It is however, a must see! |

Since Yvon and his team took over management as co-owners, Mile End is now one of the top 5 bars in Montreal. Great DJs every weekend, nice crowd, lots of beautiful people, great tapas. A must!

Check out the tuesday nights over at MileEnd too. They get consistently great jazz bands, and cover is only $3, good place for a nice music filled tuesday evening.

Last Friday we decided to spend the night at the Mile-End. We left the main for this time and moved north to St-Laurent (near Fairmont street). The street was very quiet and it was hard to believe a well know place was located around there. A flashing ambulance put us on the way. The theme was the hospital that night (never done before and only for Halloween told me a waiter). All the staff was dressed as physicians and nurses and a little truck, costumed as an ambulance, was flashing at the entrance. Although the bar at the ground floor was pretty empty, the club upstairs was fairly crowded. I think they have probably played all kind of music during the night, making me hard to remember exactly what it was about. Anyway, the party was great, mostly leaded by regulars. A lot of groups, taking photo of themselves on the dance floor ; few costumes except for the staff that made a great effort. The atmosphere was relaxed although I felt myself sometimes outside the party among the groups. Mile-End has definitely something that put the place above the average although I would think about it more as a nightclub than a bar, even though the lounge was definitely not empty.
Finally, we ended downstairs at the bar where we took several pictures of two girls seating beside. Sadly for us, they were gay :-)

I went on Friday night and they had an amazing house DJ. I can't remember his name, but the vibe that he exuded was phenomenal...and the cover was ridiculously cheap (5$)
