| Saphir, for me, is the most interesting Saint Laurent club; interesting in a sociological sense. On any given night, there is such an eclectic selection of music that make Saphir an exploration of Montreal's underground sub-cultures. Thursdays are hip hop/jungle nights, and Pakis like me love the feel of running naked through the jungle all over again. The key to surviving in the jungle is to stay clever: always wear a fake face on the back of your head, so that tigers can't sneak up on you. At Saphir, you are, unfortunately, always safe from tigers, or even the elusive cougars. There is also, a Goth night at Saphir, but I've never been able to get in, because of this strange locked cage. A strange way to promote a night, I'm sure, but then I realized that the locked cage was a metaphor for my own intolerant mind, which is also like a locked cage. 'Ah! I see!' I exclaimed, alone in my revelation. I walked away from Saphir, happier than I've been in years, liberated by the force of my self-therapy. |

Je suis allée 3 ou 4 fois et chaque fois c'était la même chose je me levais pour danser: Non, trop de monde sur une si petite piste de danse. Et je finissais tjrs la soirée assise à regarder mes amis jouer au pool...vrmt ordinaire comme endroit

I've been only there on a thursday upstairs expected to hear jungle but it was even better the dj played an old school hip-hop set perfect mixed with no track younger than 1990!!!The crowd was very nice a lot of heartful ppl...it's good furnished enough space to chill down and dance...recommend this club to anyone to go there at least on Thursday!!!

I go to Saphir on Friday nights as often as I can. The DJ upstairs on Friday nights which is the goth, ebm floor is amazing!! The atmosphere is great, and I really like the crowd. So the club itself is ok, but it's the music & the crowd that gets me going there.

Whoever "reviewed" Saphires is obviously incompetent, wednesdays are metal upstaires, downstaires is theme night, thursday hip/hop&jungle downstaires, nevermind the 90's upstaires (Thom ur so cute, dj) friday is electroclash/new wave downstaires and goth upstaires, saturday is dj Frigid downstaires and industrial upstaires. the reason that sometimes you cant go from upstaires to downstairs is because they rent out the bottom half, therefore theres 2 different cover charges. tuesday isnt the best night, it isnt even open. im a proud saphire girl and before you go you shouldnt judge. we love you Richard.

Man, Everytime I go to this club there are hott ladies all over the place and I have never gone home from this club dissapointed- if you know what i mean... I recommend u come here while in Montreal

I don't know about Thursday nights at Saphir since I can't stand jungle music. However if you're a fan of EBM, Darkwave, Industrial, etc. then Friday (most popular night) or Saturday nights on the upper floor are for you (cover $5.00). The second floor on Fridays and Saturdays has mainly mainstream 80's and 90's, if you're into that sort of thing (I suppose there's a cover for that too). The crowd builds at the ususal Montreal time. There can be some less than wonderful bands on Saturdays but they generally clear out eventually and let the DJs do their thing.
