Le Comme Chez Soi is more of a restaurant than a bar, but that shouldn't prevent you from enjoying a night drinking at the spot. First, some explanation: "comme chez soi" means "like at home", basically the premise of the restaurant being that the food and the atmosphere will be homey. On that point, Le Comme Chez Soi definitely delivers: the food is amazing and doesn't have that generic taste (or selection) that many restaurant/bars specialize in. The chef is a friendly and talkative man, don't visit the place without getting to know him at least a bit.
Le Comme Chez Soi is perfect for a late dinner with a bunch of friends, followed with a late drinking session at the spot. The food is so good that you'll probably be too full to go anywhere else that night. What's more, the restaurant remains relatively calm latter at night, which means you won't be bothered by 18 year olds dancing on tables, and you'll actually be able to hear and maintain a conversation with friends.
What surprised me was the prices: a pint of Boreale was over 7$ I believe, a price I have never paid before for a Boreale.
Still, Le Comme Chez Soi is one more original spot to visit in the Mile End, contributing to the cool aura of a neighbourhood which already ahs so much going for it.
PS: For the old-timers out there, Le Comme Chez Soi occupies the same space that The Green Room used to. I only have fond memories of the ultra-cool Green Room, and that probably rubs-off onto Le Comme Chez Soi.
