Salon Officiel is tucked-away in the corner of rue Roy and rue Drolet, conveniently hidden from the big streets. Yet the place is a little gem of a bar because it has a real DJ (not a computer) spinning tunes and a dance floor where people do actually bust moves, something rare for a bar of this size. Basically, if your boyfriend wants to just sit around, drink beer and stare at other girls but you want to have some fun and dance, well Salon Officiel is the perfect place for the two of you.
What's more, Salon Officiel has managed to create a unique vibe: the whole place is decorated as to remind of a brothel. The walls are covered in red wallpaper, the windows are covered with thin veils, and large classical paintings of naked ladies are hanging on the walls of the establishment.
The place also manages to keep a contrastingly original identity, as Sundays are metal nights, yet on Saturday, it is not rare to see patrons with bottles of vodka on their tables and grooving to 90ies hip-hop classics.
Really, Salon Officiel is a well kept Plateau secret, yet it is often gets jam-packed, erupts in dancing, but always manages somehow to maintain its neighborhood-bar feel.
