The W Hotel, one of Montreal's upscale hotels, with its embedded club and lounge opened a while ago already (that is a few years), yet we've been shunning it at Montreal-Clubs.com.
The main reason for this is that our (poor) staff doesn't really get-off at the idea of having to dress-up like crazy and wait in a lineup in order to be vetted by an all-powerful bouncer who decides, in his god-like position, who is worthy enough to visit the W Club and Lounge temples and who is not.
But last week, well surrounded by beautiful girls, I mustered enough courage to hit the place.
We paid a visit to the W Lounge part of this posh-paradise, also known as the Plateau Lounge. And this is what W is all about: a posh modernist atmosphere.
Except that, to my surprise, it was all well pulled-off. Giant metal Arabic-inspired plates greeted us on every sofa square, hinting towards plentyness, feasts and orgy-drinking possibilities (which didn't happen, but the hint was there). Large authentic modern art pieces were hung on the walls all the way from the lounge to the washrooms. The art was from a local artist, had Montreal as theme and was for sale. The music was descent. The only downer was the absolute lack of any good beers on tap.
If you want to indulge in a materialistic night of plentyness, glass and concrete design and beautiful hostesses assigning you to your reserved sofa, then W Lounge is the perfect place.
