What I love about L'Amère à Boire is its unpretentiousness: a small street front, a small terasse for the summer, nothing that gives a clue about the 3 levels that the brasserie (French for brewery) occupies inside the building.
Inside, no glitter or flashy modernism or minimalism, just some European-inspired decoration. And then there are the beers. Each has a story, most are Czech and German inspired, and some are authentic English lagers. All are brewed by L'Amère à Boire itself. You will not find their beers anywhere else.
For dark beer lovers, the mighty Stout Imperiale will knock you back with it’s 7.5% alcohol content flavored with a touch cacao and coffee. For those who want to dig into a French Canadian rarity, try la Boucanier, a traditional Quebecois beer. |
