In my opinion the appellation “lounge” is used all too often without merit, but that’s not the case for Vinyl Lounge. This venue has all characteristics that make it truly loungy: it’s very small, it has a nice outdoors terrace in the back of the building, it has comfy classic-style couches from which you don’t feel like getting up and the music is cool and underground. All this makes Vinyl Lounge a perfect spot for lounging, where you can sit down with friends and strangers and talk in a relaxed atmosphere and without having to out-yell each other.
But Vinyl also has another face, a more spiced-up incarnation, almost a split personality I could say. Basically, being a lounge doesn’t prevent it from turning into a wild dancing party. Here is how: after time spent chillin, the patrons start dancing, and a crew of local youth put up some crazy break-dancing face-offs. Now correct me in comments section if I am wrong, but I know of no other place in Montreal where you can see some quality break dancing live and spontaneous on the dance floor.
Definitely Vinyl is a place to visit. |
