Greatly popular among the Saint-Denis crowd, El Zaz has always been somewhat of a mystery to me. I see huge line-ups outside and constantly hear about the décor and the great atmosphere, but whenever I set foot inside I fail to see what all the fuss is about. It’s a nice place with a friendly staff and patrons, however, unless people are shedding their clothes and dancing naked on the tables, I don’t understand why you would wait half an hour in line…But enough with this diatribe.
El Zaz boasts a unique albeit kitschy interior, a surfboard here, a VW bus there, you know, the unusual stuff. There are quite a few tables, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find seating past 11pm. The dance-floor on the other hand, like in most Saint-Denis institutions, is relatively small. Nevertheless, this is a place that many people would swear by, so if you want to visit one of Saint-Denis’s most popular bars, look no further than El Zaz. |
