La Buvette chez Simone is an authentic wine bar, of which there is few in Montreal (a notable other is Pullman on Parc Avenue).
What's even better, Buvette chez Simone feels surprisingly un-pretentious for a wine bar. You are not greeted by fancy-dressed waiters. The decor isn't classical in any way. The inside is modern and original: you'll quickly notice the orange electric cables hanging-off the ceiling and holding the light bulbs. And there is a small street-level terasse in the front.
The wine selection is really extensive, as you would obviously expect in a wine bar. What's more, they serve tons of appetizer-type foods, like all kinds of cheeses, meats, lots of p‚tťs, fish and other finger-licking goodies.
I imagine that this combination of good wines and good food is why this place is always packed. And it's not only packed, it's also loud, which can only be a good sign of people enjoying a good night out with friends.
Seriously, I feel like my review is not capturing how much I enjoy the Buvette chez Simone. It's a perfect spot to impress a date, with an fun and wine-fuelled enjoyable atmosphere, like there are few in Montreal.
Go and live-it for yourself.
