The Java U in the old port is not a regular coffee shop; this is because at night it morphs itself into a lounge with live bands and DJs. This trendy establishment, during the day, offers a selection of hot panini sandwiches and salads. In the evening the menu shifts to a tapas bar; serving hors-d’oeuvre and martinis. I do recommend the lycheetine, but I am biased to the sweet taste and sea-urchin-like texture of lychees, but I digress.

The décor is very chic modern, with white leather booths occupying the split level configuration. The upper level is for small groups who want to isolate themselves from the rest of the patrons. The lower level, the more sociable of the two, offers clients an opportunity to watch live bands every Wednesday or DJs roll out electronica tunes Thursday and Friday.

Not only does Java U provide people with food, coffee, and liquor but it also quadruples as a venue for vernissages. Every month, management finds a new local talent (or friend) to fill up this place with art work, and if you are interested (either because of complete obsession for the art work or drunkenness) you can purchase the fine art.

All in all, a very chill place with a chic ambiance.

, I was fine with my LBC 1/2 time, but not with having to dodge thousands of people on a narrow boardwalk. I’m dreading that boardwalk when I do the full Mary in October that you pimped but ar&2#e8n17;t even going to be at!

I do not appreciate this establishment. It is oddly placed in the middle of a historic district. Out with the new, in with the old.
